Hotel Room Blocks- Mrs. Norwood West Texas Fair & Rodeo:At the Holiday Inn Express, 15 rooms for September 7th & 8th have been blocked under Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. The nightly rate is $94 which includes a continental breakfast. Book before August 24th. This hotel is close to the fairgrounds and easy to find. Once you get to Abilene on I-20 take exit 288. Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo: Comfort Inn at LaSalle and the traffic circle has 15 rooms reserved for us until September 15th at $85 per night. Reservation dates are October 11-13. Call now. Comfort Suites2700 LaSalleWaco, TX 76706254-537-0413 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo:Holiday Inn Astrodome at Reliant Center offered us a rate of $120 a night. You are paying for location. If this is too expensive, you may want to check with the Best Western Medical Center. They have rooms for $98 a night. There are cheaper hotels, but be prepared to deal with parking. You can’t buy parking passes. A limited number are given to each chapter.
West Texas Fair & Rodeo *Health Certificates will need to be done. Expect to spend around $20 per heifer. No date has been set. * Parents pulling trailers or helping with heifers will leave with heifers about 9 AM on Friday September 7th *Make sure you papers are the herd book -Parents will check in the heifers * Students will come down after school on the 7th -Leave at approximately 4:00 PM from Ag Barn * If you need a ride, let Mrs. Bufe know.

FYI: Things to bring to shows: All types of Show Animals: *Feed *Feed bucket *Water Bucket *Show halter *Rag or paper towels *Proper Show Clothes -boots -jeans -button down shirt (long sleeve is best) -belt -no caps or hats -contestant number holder or safety pens Additional Supplies: Heifers only: *Original registration papers (you will not be allowed to show without them; scramble heifers have special scramble papers) *Washing supplies -water hose -wash brush -soap (mild dishwashing will work in a pinch) *Brush or scotch comb *Hay *Show stick Goats/Lamb: *Blanket (AKA- sock) to keep them clean
Things to do before the show: *Clip your heifer/lamb at least a week before the show *Write your name on all your supplies- They all look alike once you get to a show. *Practice setting up your heifer/lamb-If you need help, ask.
