GO FOR THE GOLD!
As the season for the Summer Olympics comes to a close, how can a middle school student GO FOR THE GOLD?
The "quest" starts at the beginning of school when the class bell rings. Start the new school year with a positive attitude! If the locker you've been assigned just won't open, get some help. Tell a teacher, go to the office for help, complete a "fix my locker" form at the front desk, take some action to solve the problem.
Carry your planner and use it to your benefit. Keep it up-to-date so you remember what homework and projects you have due.
Use a "homework folder" to help remind you what papers need completion and what has been returned to you.
Get to your classes on time and be prepared to participate! Sometimes just answering one question will help you with a "participation" grade.
Pay attention in class. The teacher may be giving you information that will help you as the year progresses such as, where to turn in papers, where to find make-up work, when tutorials are offered, what it takes to make an A - or B -or C.
Ask someone in the class for a phone number - you might need help with homework or need to ask on what pages is the assignment.
Do all the schoolwork you can during school. That will keep "homework" to a minimum - and you can get help right then if you need it.
Turn in your work! If you've done it, get a grade. It would be a shame to do the work and not get the credit!
When you so what's needed every day, you have fewer worries and more "carefree" time. School can be a good place to be.
