What is the role of the Professional School Counselor?
The professional school counselor is a certified/licensed educator trained in school counseling with unique qualifications and skills to address all students' academic, personal/social and career development needs. A professional school counselor will develop confidential relationships with students to help them resolve or cope with problems or developmental concerns. A professional school counselor will also implement a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances student achievement.
Here at Dove Elementary School, the school counseling program consists of classroom guidance lessons in each classroom one time per month, individual and group counseling sessions, consultation with parents, teachers and other educators, incorporating prevention and intervention programs, and providing referrals to other school support services or community resources.
If you are interested in your student being seen individually or in a group setting please contact me and/or your student's teacher and we will send home a parent permission slip. I am looking forward to a great school year with our Dove students and parents!
Sincerely,
Kaley S. Pulliam, M.S., Ed.S., NCC
