Vocational Adjustment Class-VAC

Career Exploration, Work Experience

VAC stands for Vocational Adjustment Class.  This class is designed to assist students in making a smooth transition from academic pursuits to employment.  This class builds concepts and skills necessary to be successful in an employment setting.  Students who are enrolled in VAC are typically seniors who must work 15 hours per week at paid employment in the community.  VAC provides 1 1/2 credits which includes classroom time and work release periods.  The employers and VAC teacher work together to provide training and skills necessary for success in the world of work.

Career Exploration prepares students to enter the job market through a study of career paths and employment issues.  Students will receive an overview of a variety of occupations, including job duties and responsibilities, education and skills, and projected outlook.  The class also teaches application and interview processes, identifying barriers to employment, individual attributes that enhance employment and ways to locate jobs.
