ELEMENTARY Teachers of Social Studies!

It's hard to believe it is November already!  As some of you have noticed curriculum collaboration looks different this year, with the Linking Literacies follow up teams meeting (K-2) in lieu of the massive group we normally have.  Though I think the results will be phenomenal for our growth as a district I do miss connecting with everyone as we have in the past.  Luckily, several social studies pioneers have ventured into new roles as vertical team leaders, holding meetings in their classrooms to continue our work on D2SC.

Attention FIFTH grade teachers!
I hope that your experience with History Alive has been positive so far!  We have had our first feedback meeting with nothing but positive comments and I see extensions and modifications every day.  What powerful teaching and learning is going on in classrooms!  I hope that you will all be able to attend out next feedback meeting, scheduled for Thursday January 10th.

Kindergarten Teachers!
Thank you to those that worked on the Linking Literacies Follow-Up in October.  Engaging discussion took place focusing on Stephen F. Austin's role in the kindergarten TEKS and how that translates into meaningful instruction at this level.  Look for the Kindergarten follow up where all kinder teachers will hear about the work done at this follow up.  Changes in the curriculum will be reflected in D2SC.
