Upcoming Events: Thursday, October 16 - Begin practicing for the Practice-a-thon Fundraiser. ~You may continue to collect donations and pledges.~ Thursday, October 23 - Practice-a-thon Pledge forms and Practice card due. Saturday, October 25 - Select Band Auditions at HMS BAND PRACTICE-A-THON!!!! (This will be our only fundraiser for the year) Our goal is to raise $125 per person. Thanks for supporting the Bronco Band Program!!! Pledge sheets and practice cards are due Thursday, Oct. 23.  We will photocopy them and give them back to your child during their band class.   FYI:  The top seller will be determined by the Oct. 23 deadline. Please see Parent Letter #1 Select and Region Band entry fee and audition info was given to the Symphonic and Honors Band students. Please pay you $6 enty fees as soon as possible.  Thank you!!! Please see Parent Letter #2 for more details. Attention all Beginner Band Parents:   We have started Practice Cards (Thursday, Oct. 2) They are due every Thursday and require a parent signature. They count as a homework grade - 20%. Please encourage your child to play for you! Attention Symphonic, Concert and Honors Band Parents: We are starting Practice Cards Thursday, Sept. 18. Attention all Jazz Band Class Parents: Please have your child play our 4 jazz band tunes for you. Listen and make sure that they can play their tunes!! Thank you!!! The Band did a Super Duper Job at the Pep Rally!! Pics will be available soon! Upcoming Events: Wednesday, Sept. 24 - Group Pictures ~ALL BAND STUDENTS WEAR BAND T-SHIRT AND JEANS~ Friday, Sept. 26 - HMS Pep Rally Honors, Symphonic and Concert Band students will perform.  Wear band t-shirt and jeans.  Friends and family are welcome to attend!!  Pep Rally will begin at 2:45 in the HMS Gym.  Band plays at the beginning.  We will play Rock You, The Hey Song, Smoke on the Water, Land of 1000 Dances and Gimme Some Lovin' Symphonic and Honors Band have begun before and after school sectionals.  They are for a grade!!!  See sectional schedule for your child's day and time. WOW!!!!!  What a great select band clinic!!!   The kids learned alot and they ate alot of pizza! The kids got a great jump-start on the audition music!! Thank you parents for bringing your child to and from the clinic!!!! HMS BAND IS THE BEST!!!!! GREAT PARENT MEETING!!!! THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  Thanks to all the wonderful parents who volunteered to work a 2-hour shift at an HMS football game!  Thank you for volunteering to help with our Select Band Auditions, the Christmas Parade and our Christmas Concert. If you did not attend the Parent Meeting, but would like to volunteer for an activity (we have some spots available) call or email Susan Brown 817-545-0544 or brownjsd@sbcglobal.net BEGINNERS WEEKEND ASSIGNMENT THE KIDS ARE BRINGING HOME THEIR INSTRUMENTS FOR THE FIRST TIME. THEY WERE GIVEN A FORM FOR YOU TO COMPLETE AND BRING BACK ON TUESDAY. THEY WILL DEMONSTRATE WHAT WE HAVE WORKED ON THIS WEEK. IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT HAVE THE FORM, GO TO PARENT LETTER #2. Brenda Hinton 817-313-5962 or brenda.hinton@gcisd.net Did you pay your school-owned instrument fee?  School-owned instruments include: oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor and bari sax, french horn, euphonium, tuba and 7th & 8th grade percussion. Please make a check payable to HMS Band for $50. Please see Parent Letter #2. More info to be added.  Get into the habit of checking the band website weekly! Any letter sent home with a student can also be found in "Parent Letters". Have you signed up for private lessons?  Private lessons will enhance you music skills and be lots of fun.  Simply print "Parent Letter #6" and fill it out to request private lessons.  Scholarship money is still available. Parents, if you are interested in purchasing a Step-Up instrument for your child make sure you talk to Mr. Pritchard or Ms. Hinton first.  There are specific brands and models that you need to consider.
