PowerPoint Quick Tips- Working From a Template
To Open the Template: 
1. Open PowerPoint from the launcher
2. Click the circle next to TEMPLATE and click OK
3. Click the ACTIVITIES tab.
4. Double click the correct template.

To Type on the Slides:
1. Click one time on the words to make a box around the text
2. Begin typing

To Pick a Background Color: 
1. Begin on your first slide
2. Click FORMAT, BACKGROUND
3. Click the down arrow next to the white bar
4. Choose MORE COLORS
5. Click a color and click OK
6. If you want this color on ALL the slides, click APPLY TO ALL.  If you want to pick a different background for each slide, click APPLY.

To Pick a Color for the Text Box:
1. Click one time on the words to bring up the box.
2. Click the down arrow next to the PAINT BUCKET tool on the toolbar. 
3. Click MORE FILL COLORS.
4. Pick a color and click OK
 
To Change the Font, Size, or Color:
1. Highlight the text you want to change.
2. To change the color, click the down arrow next to the A tool on the toolbar.  Click a color.
3. To change the font, click FONT or click the down arrow next to the font box on the toolbar. 
4. To change the font size, click the down arrow next to the size box on the toolbar, or click in the size box and type an appropriate size. 

To Insert a Picture from a File:
1. Click INSERT, PICTURE, FROM FILE.
2. Navigate to where you saved the picture.
3. Click the picture file and click INSERT

Resize Pictures:
1. Click one time on the picture.
2. Drag the picture smaller or larger from the boxes in the CORNERS of the picture.

To Insert a Picture from the Internet:
1. Click the Application Menu (in the top right hand corner of the screen)
2. Click LAUNCHER
3. Click NETSCAPE COMMUNICATOR
4. Find the picture you want to insert.
5. CLICK AND HOLD on the picture and choose COPY THIS IMAGE.
6. Go back to the Application Menu and drag down to Microsoft PowerPoint.
7. Go to the slide where you want the picture.
8. Click EDIT and PASTE.
Adding Word Art:
1. Click INSERT, PICTURE, WORD ART or the Word Art shortcut on the drawing toolbar at the bottom of the window. 
2. Click the WORD ART STYLE you like and click OK.
3. Type your text.  (NOTE:  Word Art is best for short titles and phrases… not whole sentences)
4. Click OK
5. Once your Word Art is inserted, you can resize it just like you would a picture… Click on it one time and drag it bigger or smaller from the boxes in the CORNERS of it.
Adding Transitions Between Slides: 
1. Click VIEW and SLIDE SORTER
2. Click ONE TIME on slide number 1. 
3. Click SLIDE SHOW and SLIDE TRANSITION, or click the SLIDE TRANSITION icon  that is just to the left of the Transition Box (it will currently say No Transition) 
4. Click the down arrow next to the Transition Box just below the picture of the dog
5. Click a transition you like and choose a speed (Medium is the best!)
6. If you want the same transition on each slide, click APPLY TO ALL, or if you want to pick a different transition for each slide click APPLY and repeat the process for each slide.
