HyperStudio Quick Tips
Start a New Stack:
1. From the Home Stack, click on the New Stack button
2. Answer Yes when asked if you want to leave the Home Stack

Pull Down the Toolbars:
1. Click on TOOLS and drag the box to the side of your card
2. Repeat with the COLORS toolbar
3. Click EXTRAS and SHORTCUTS

Add a New Card:
1. Click ADD NEW CARD on the SHORTCUTS toolbar

Move from One Card to Another:
 *  <  to go to the Previous Card
*  >  to go to the Next Card

Add Text:
1. Click  ADD TEXT OBJECT on the SHORTCUTS toolbar
2. Size the box the way you want it, and move it to the spot on the screen where you want it.
3. Click outside the box and you will get the Text Info window
4. In the Text Info window, select colors for the text and background and uncheck the boxes next to Scrollable and Scroll Bar.  Choose if you want a frame around your text.
5. Click STYLE to change the font, colors, and size.
6. Click on OK

Edit Text Box Properties After It's Been Created:
* Select the Arrow tool from the toolbox and Double-click on the text box to be edited

Add Graphics:
1. Click ADD GRAPHIC on the SHORTCUTS toolbar.
2. Select the clipart you want to use, and click on OK.
3. Choose the selector tool you want:
4. Choose the square selector if you don't mind the picture being in a "box"
5. Choose the lasso tool if you want the picture to be outlined precisely around its edges.
6. Drag the mouse around the picture you want, and click on OK.
7. The picture is now on your card. You can click inside the picture to move it around, or click on the edges and drag the picture to a different size.
8. When you have the picture in the spot you want, click somewhere outside the picture.
9. In the box that appears,  click OK

Move, resize, or delete a Graphic
* Choose the arrow tool in the toolbox and click on the item you want to change.

Add a Button:
1. Move to the card where you want the button.
2. Click ADD BUTTON on the SHORTCUTS toolbar
3. At the Button Appearance window, select the shape of the button you want to use
4. Select the background color and the text color of the button
5. Give the button a name
6. Click on OK
7. The button will appear on your card. Drag it to where you want it to be located.
8. Release the mouse, and click once outside of the button.
9. At the Button Actions window, select the place you want the button to take you.
10. Click on Done
11. At the Transitions window, select the transition and speed you want for the button action
12. Click on OK
13. Using the hand tool, click on your button to test it out.

Edit a Button After It's Been Created:
Select the Arrow tool from the toolbox and double-click on the button to be edited

Add a Background Color to a Card:
1.  Click EDIT and ERASE BACKGROUND
2.  Select a color and click OK.
 

Add a Border to a Card
1. From the File pull-down menu, choose Import Background.
2. In the box in which Disk File is selected, click on OK.
3. Select the clipart card you want to use, and click on OK.
4. Choose the selector tool in your toolbox.
5. Drag the mouse to include everything EXCEPT the border.
With the inner portion of the clipart card selected, hit the Delete key on your keyboard.

Test Your Stack
1. Choose the Browse tool (the hand) from the toolbox.
2. Go through the stack using the hand to click on buttons, etc.
