Lesson One: The Scientific Method covers the history of scientific research and Galileo Galilei's experiments to test ideas about nature. Students will see how Galileo disproved the teachings of Aristotle, who claimed that heavy objects fall faster than lighter ones. The student will also learn how to conduct an experiment of their own.

Lesson Two: Scientific Measurement shows students how to develop an understanding of the metric system and how it is used in scientific investigation. The use of metric measurements to measure length, mass, volume, temperature, and density is demonstrated. Common lab equipment is demonstrated, including such instruments as graduated cylinders, metric balances, thermometers, and metric rulers.
