Welcome to the CMS Drama Department!
No matter if you like being the star in the spotlight or just being the tech person who runs one, we have a place in CMS Theatre for you. Our theatre room brings out the magic in performing. We have our own performance stage, computer lights, props, and costumes galore! It is a great place to get your feet wet and learn what acting is all about.
CMS offers theatre classes for each grade level and we hope students enroll in all three. Each one builds on the one before to give students confidence in acting and giving presentations in other classes . It prepares students for high school in speech and drama.
It begins with a 9 week section for 6th graders, a full year for 7th graders, and a full year for 8th graders ,ending with special honor classes for the advanced students who intend to pursue theatre at the high school level. Students must audition for the advanced PLAYBILL and CENTER STAGE classes.
This talented, creative department is very active in campus life, presenting both comical and serious performances to touch lives through theatre and to develop an appreciation for the performing arts. In addition, performers represent CMS at UIL and compete at local speech tournaments.
